Until I can let go

Reticent on the external
and rescinding to reclusivity
I stare with wide eyes
and my mouth shut tight
through two windows of light

My hands hold my heart
so tight
I can feel it beating through my fingers
No more will you share of me
until I can let go

The rhythm of my prayers
sinking into obscurity
while my strength fades
and my eyes close
to stop a tear.
