Quiet soul

Be quiet, my soul
and listen to me
Be quiet, my soul
and do forgive me
for taking some time
to quiet myself

The roar of the world
deafens me so
I cannot sleep, cannot see
which way to go

In the quiet is a sound,
the beat of my heart
It’s louder than anything
and then I do start
to wonder and pray
if I’ll even hear again
a notion, a murmur,
a whisper of a friend

Be quiet, my soul
I’m deaf, now, you see
And what I don’t hear
is what matters to me
