Black and White

I’m smudged
across the fine paper
of lines
and blocks
of shadings
and gradings

I’m penciled in
amongst pixels of dusty artworks
and scrapings of chalk and crayon

No colour defines me
and shape unbecoming to my demeanour
I’m graceless in presentation
and vulnerable in view

It’s black and white
but I am the grey
and the shadow
that gives the contrast
the depth
the perception
and the hollow outlines.
