Halfway to somewhere

I’ve been walking
sometimes running
‘tween trees and rocks
grass and sand
water and land

I’ve been thinking
’bout life and stuff
had just about enough
thought I was so tough

I know
I believe
I’m halfway to somewhere
I know

A beginning only comes
after an end
And a new leaf
means the old one had to die
Sometimes to shrivel up and cry

Craving oxygen
like a man underwater
with no scuba
Craving food
like a dog chained five feet
from its bowl
Seeking love
like a blind man
in a busy department store
Seeking rest
like a mother
with a hundred children

I know
I believe
I’m halfway to somewhere
I know
