I’m made of glass
You’d think me transparent
but it’s not apparent
from what you can see
Brittle and bare
with no handles or mouth
There’s no north there’s no south
There’s just this empty space
I’m so fragile
drop me and I will break
throw me and it will take
a second to destroy all that I am
You might think you see through me
but light has a funny way
of travelling and channelling
tunnelling and funnelling
and changing the perception of appearance
Don’t judge by what you see
when you look at me
Don’t throw me to the ground
and revel in the sound
of a thousand pieces of me
falling all around
I’m fragile
Easy to break
Simple to take
and make
into nothing.

Everybody is fragile.

As much as I dislike having to ‘explain’ my poetry, sometimes some info is needed!
This poem is about being vulnerable, fragile to the people around us. Everyone puts on a brace face, a suitable bravado to mask the fact that we’re really scared sometimes and, also, that what people say to us can hurt us inside even if we don’t show it on the outside.
It ends with an acknowledgement of how fragile a person really is. Hopefully we can learn from each other and build each other up, not break each other down.

Dig this one. Great use of the language. To me, these are just begging for some music to go with them:)

Thanks so much for the comments Jon, I really do appreciate them. And you are definitely the muso to put the melodies and harmonies to any writing, I encourage you to feel free to do so!
